“If the women don’t find you handsome they should at least find you handy!” – Red Green That’s how I describe this FREE service from www.embedr.com “handsome and handy” to steal a phrase from Red Green. I’ve been developing a website with one of my business partners. He has a video production company. We were looking for some different ways to share some of his work. What you can do at www.embedr.com is very simply make a playlist of your videos and create a good looking interface to play them back. I really encourage you to try it out. Here’s the one I created for my partner Dave.

Build your own custom video playlist at embedr.com

It really is easy. The one trick is that you need to use the URL to your YouTube video that is in your browser to add to your playlist. Just like you were going to bookmark or share a link to a page. The videos will play in the order that you put them in and you can re-arrange them later on. Note that others can share you Embedr Player as well and it works with more that just YouTube. There are a lot of other applications where you could use video delivery method. I haven’t come across any major problems. It does take a bit to load which could be a problem but I think the user functionality is worth the wait. The place where this can really shine is if you had a series of training videos and you wanted to surround the player with other content. It works well with my hosting provider to which I’ve provided a banner to below. Speaking of “handsome and handy” I plan to do a few posts on some of the extras that my hosting provider includes in their service.

The truth really is so simple. I saw this video interview with Thomas Sowell and just had to watch. ( I sincerely hope that when I’m 81 years old I can be this engaged and attuned to the world.) The interview discusses his new book “The Thomas Sowell Reader”. Peter Robinson, the interviewer starts out by asking Dr. Sowell about a quotation from his book, “One confused word can gum up social policies, the legal system and innumerable institutions throughout society. That word is equality.” You need to watch the video to see his answer and the video that sets-it-up. The whole interview is awesome but in that short segment you gain much wisdom because you realize “equality” is one of those words that should “tingle” your reasonableness radar. If you try to apply equality to any subject you have the potential to end up choosing the baby or the bath water, when you know you wouldn’t do either! You’ll know to at least turn the question around and say “Could you describe for me a few situations of un-equality.”

One more awesome nugget from this video is that Sowell was a self-described marxist for 10 years! Watch and learn where his epiphany came.

His final quote to the younger generation is why you need to share Dr. Sowell’s wisdom, “learn all you can before you reach conclusions. There are plenty of people out there who have prepackaged conclusions for you to reach. You need to have build up a level of knowledge and experience so that you are no longer putty in the hands of somebody else who has his own agenda.”

The Uncommon Knowledge website is a great resource for some of the best thinkers and writers. Peter Robinson is a great interviewer, he asks the questions that are important, not interjecting himself into the interview!
